Spiritual Bouquets, Mass Cards, Memorial Masses

Now that our loved ones are gone some people wonder what we can do for them. The answer is simple. We can pray. One of the spiritual acts of mercy is to pray for the living and the dead. Remembering our loved ones in our prayers is a beautiful, loving thing that we can do that not only graces them in heaven but graces us with peace and loving memories to help keep them near to our hears.

A Spiritual Bouquet is also known as a Mass Card. The card is a tangible item that can be given to the family of the deceased. The card says that a Mass will be said in that person’s name. Father Carroll will make sure that the next available Mass will be said for that person. The card costs five dollars.

Memorial Masses, also known as booked Masses, are often said for family and friends on the anniversary of their death, a birthday, or other special days. These Masses are said on a particular day that is arranged with the parish staff and the family. It is customary but not required that the family of that loved one come to that Mass to pray for their loved one’s eternal salvation. St. Mary’s also invites (but does not require) the family to bring up the gifts during that Mass. When a family requests a Memorial Mass they can have the Mass said for as many people as they would like but only one family can have an intention for each Mass. An offering for “booked” Masses is usually twenty dollars but you can make the check out for what ever amount you are comfortable with. Do not allow cost to keep you from inquiring about having a Mass said for your loved ones.

The Georgetown and Rowley Parish Mass books were combined into the new Parish Mass book without any overlap. Please see the bulletin each week for the scheduled Masses for the week. If you are concerned about the date and time of the Mass you have scheduled for your family please call the Parish Office at 978-352-2024.
