Safety Our parish is participating in a personal safety and abuse prevention education program for upper grade children sponsored by the Office of Child Advocacy, the Office of Religious Education and the Catholic Schools Office. In January our 4, 5, 6th grade classes will begin using the Archdioceses of Boston “Keeping Children Safe” Child Abuse Prevention Program-a program designed to address safety issues related to the needs of children in these age categories. The topics will cover issues like safety while being home alone, babysitting, safety in public places, Internet safety, making responsible choices and personal safety. After each session, you will receive a letter that provides information about each lesson, what your child has learned and how you can help your child learn and practice the safety rules taught in the classroom lessons. Children learn more about safety and are more likely to follow safety rules when they have multiple opportunities to practice and talk about safety with their parents and family. We’ like to encourage you to help your child learn and practice safety rules. We will be having a family education evening on Sunday January 13th in the Georgetown Church Hall beginning at 7 PM. At this time you will learn more about the program look at the curriculum and see the film we will use as part of the lessons (“Alone at Home”) At the Family Education night you will also learn how to help teach your child about the safety rules. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Williams or Tricia Hanlon. Schedules |
